Administrative Assistant
NOTE: This position requires in-person work regularly in the Champaign, Illinois, area. If you do not live within 15 miles of Champaign, please explain your intent to be able to meet those in-person needs.
Elevated Access is looking for a team member with an attention to detail and a passion for removing transportation as a barrier to healthcare to join our team as an Administrative Assistant. Elevated Access is a non-profit organization that enables people to access healthcare by providing flights on private planes at no cost. Our volunteer pilot network transports clients seeking abortion or gender-affirming care across the United States. Our work is rooted in anti-racism and the reproductive justice framework: everyone has the right to control their own body and future, everyone has the right to have children, everyone has the right to not have children, and everyone has the right to raise children in a safe and healthy environment.
The Administrative Assistant works with the Executive Director and other staff to manage communications like phone calls and emails, to schedule meetings with people outside the organization, scan mail received into our files, and perform other administrative tasks. With the sensitivity of our work, maintaining confidentiality is of the utmost importance.
This position is a full-time, work-from-home job and requires availability to work in-person approximately 20% per week as needed in Champaign-Urbana. Our standard business hours are Monday through Friday, 9am to 5pm Central Time. Either a forty- or thirty-hour week for this position is possible.
Day-to-day responsibilities include
Answering phone calls with requested information or routing to appropriate individuals
Monitoring and routing incoming messages from email and web forms, responding as able
Picking up mail and packages from receiving locations
Reviewing mail and flagging action items
Assisting donors with questions or requests related to their contributions
Meeting with the Executive Director to identify and prioritize assignments
Other administrative duties as assigned in collaboration with the Executive Director
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent data entry skills
Excellent computer literacy including learning new technology
Detail-oriented
Self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision
Able to take larger assignments and break them into smaller tasks
Passion for reproductive justice and gender-affirming care
Non-profit experience or a strong desire to do non-profit work
Strong ability to maintain confidential information
Preferred
Previous non-profit administrative assistant experience
Compensation & Benefits
Elevated Access is a people-first organization. We want people to be their full selves when they are working for us. To that end, we publish salary ranges with our job openings. The Administrative Assistant position has a salary range from $50,000 to $65,000 for a 40-hour work schedule and $40,000 to $50,000 for a 30-hour work schedule.
Our benefits package includes excellent health insurance, dental, and vision for the employee with the option to enroll other family members. We offer a 401(k) as well as a number of additional insurance options such as disability, life, and legal.
Our leave time includes 13 paid holidays and time as needed for illness and healthcare including doctor appointments for yourself and your immediate family. We encourage our employees to take 15 days off work each year beyond sick time, holidays, and additional organization-wide rest days. Rest days are additional time off granted at the discretion of the Executive Director.
