Partner FAQs

You have questions, we have answers.

  • There are thousands of airports across the country. Almost every county in the United States has at least one small airport with a single runway. That runway opens an opportunity for pilots to pick someone up and fly them to a destination that has the healthcare services they need. Imagine your clients traveling quickly and safely without having to use ground transportation that might take hours.

  • Like you, we do not want to cause worry or trauma for people who must travel to access their healthcare. Like you, we vet our volunteer pilots to be sure they align with our mission and goals. Our organizers have well-established relationships with other support organizations and can provide references upon request.

  • Most of the airplanes used in this work have a single propeller engine that can fly one to three passengers at over 100mph. If you have passed a small airport and saw a small plane, you are familiar with these aircraft. The Passengers page has more detail on what it’s like to fly in one.

  • Absolutely nothing! Even if you wanted to give our pilots money or even buy them lunch as a thank you, they cannot accept it. The FAA has very strict rules about when and how pilots can be compensated, and this volunteer work does not allow any form of compensation.

  • If you have a specific client that needs to get from A to B at a specific time, you can contact us. We can also work with you to arrange a pilot to be on-call when you expect to schedule procedures with short notice. We’ll make sure the pilot is safe and legal to fly.

  • Weather, aircraft maintenance, and pilot availability are the most common things that will keep us from arranging a flight or even causing a flight to be canceled. Because flights might get canceled at the last minute, you should be prepared to make alternative ground transportation.

  • We are always recruiting! If pilots contact you because they want to help with your mission, send them our way. There are a lot of regulations and requirements for volunteer pilots. Let our trained staff members make sure volunteer pilots are legal and safe to fly.

  • Staff & Volunteers

Besides your clients, we can also help access organizations by moving your staff and volunteers to where they are needed. Whether clinic defenders or emotional support escorts, we can get people to the right place at the right time so you can save time and money for other things.

    Medical Personnel

We know that some medical personnel serve multiple facilities. While the airlines can offer the fastest and cheapest transportation between major airports, getting personnel to a smaller community can be more challenging. Please reach out to us to see if we can help with this as well.

  • For other volunteer pilot organizations, we first ask, can you trust your pilots to support these healthcare needs? You need to be certain that a pilot is not going to proselytize to passengers, talk them out of their procedure, or otherwise make someone feel unsafe.

We can take on the missions that you are not sure your volunteer pilots would support. We do not want you to risk losing any of your volunteer pilots or donors because they would not support transporting people seeking an abortion or gender-affirming care. Please reach out to refer a mission.

We encourage you to thoroughly vet and train your pilots. If you want to undertake missions like these, you need to be absolutely sure your pilots are supportive of the mission. We have experience vetting and training volunteers for service in this arena, and we can do that process for you. Please reach out for more information.
